Hanger Shows Stewardship of Natural Resources as Key Chairman
Richmond, VA – The Board of Directors of the Virginia League of Conservation Voters recently honored Senator Emmett Hanger (R-Mount Solon) for his stewardship of Virginia’s natural resources.
Senator Hanger was first elected to the Senate of Virginia in 1996. As Chairman of the Senate’s Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources, Senator Hanger and his committee hold the fate of a large portion of the bills in which the conservation community is interested.
Senator Hanger earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from James Madison University. He was first elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in1983 and has served in the Senate of Virginia since1996.
Over the course of his tenure, Senator Hanger has shown great leadership, accessibility and fairness, especially in his important role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources. His passion for protecting Virginia’s lands, waters and open spaces has helped secure many victories on behalf of conservation.
